As you add points, data about each point will be displayed in the table in the Draw window. The current highlighted point will have a yellow background in the table and will be highlighted on the map by a red box. This point may be moved by clicking on and dragging the red box on the map. You also have the option to delete or adust the x and y position of the point, by clicking on the links in the table.
You can click on a row that is not highlighted, white background, and it will highlight that point in the table and on the map. You can also highlight points by clicking near them on the map. Click on insert point to insert a point on the line between the point above and below the insert point link in the table.
Check the label checbox to show labels on the map that correspond to the first column in the table. The second column gives the eleveation in feet. The third and fourth columns are the latitude and longitude respectively in degrees.
When line is selected, the drawing on the map will represent one or more lines with information listed about each point.
Click Add new feature to add a new seperate line that has its own calculated length. An example would be to calculate the individual lengths of driveways in a section. Draw the line along a driveway to get its length. Click Add new feature to draw the next driveway. The lengths of each feature are calculated seperately.
Click Add new part to add lines whose lengths are still calculated in the current feature. An example where this might be needed is two township roads that are to be graveled. Draw a line on the first road, click Add new part, draw along the second road and the lengths of each part will be added together giving the total length of road to be graveled.
When Polygon is selected, the drawing on the map will represent one or more polygons with information listed about each point. Each click defines the vertices of the polygon. Once there are more than 3 points the area will be displayed.
Click Add new feature to add a new seperate polygon that is counted as part of the area. An example would be a field that is completely seperated by a water way. You would draw a polygon around one side of the field then select Add new feature and draw the second polygon around the other side.
Click Add new part to add holes in your polygons. An example would be a field with a slough. First draw the main polygon around the field. Then, click Add new part and draw around the boundary of the slough. This will subtract the area of the slough from the main polygon.
Click Reset to clear all points and begin a new polygon.
The polygon's lines must not intersect to obtain a correct area.
